This Chocolate Berry Bliss Smoothie Bowl recipe is one of my summer-time favourites. It is packed with immune-boosting and cleansing ingredients – like spinach and berries – and nourishes you to the core! The recipe is quick, easy and adaptable to meet your personal and dietary preferences! A perfect way to start off your morning or end your day, whatever your heart desires!
Smoothie Bowl – The What’s What
Fan favourites, avocado or banana make up the base of this smoothie. Avocados are nutrient-dense and full of all the good stuff! This includes lots of fiber, protein, fat and water-soluble vitamins, antioxidant phytochemicals, carotenoids, phytonutrients and much more. Whereas bananas, are a great source of several essential nutrients including potassium, magnesium, fiber and more. They are full of quick-acting carbohydrates which can help bump up energy levels!
Spinach has powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant abilities. It is one of the most nutrient-dense foods. It is useful in protecting various systems and functions within the body. I love spinach because it has a subtle sweet flavour to it! Tip: Lightly steam or blanch your spinach to make it easier to digest, especially if you suffer from gastrointestinal discomfort.
Apples are the ultimate gut and heart friendly fruit! The old saying, “an apple a day keeps the doctor away” is a pretty accurate cliché! Apples are high in fiber, allowing them to help improve your digestion. They are also a great source of pectin and antioxidants which can help reduce inflammation in the body.
Both hemp hearts and nuts are an excellent source of nutrients, especially unsaturated fatty acids and essential amino acids.
Cacao in its organic raw form is a superfood containing a variety of unique phytonutrients. In short, guilt free chocolate!
Toss in your favourite antioxidant rich berries for flavour and top it off with your favourite superfoods, be it cacao nibs, a superfood that boosts energy and burns fat or fiber rich chia seeds or shredded coconut or rolled oats or your choice of nuts and seeds! The possibilities are endless!

Chocolate Berry Bliss Smoothie Bowl
- 1/2 cup water or plant based milk
- 1 cup organic baby spinach
- 1/2 avocado or 1 medium sized banana
- 1 organic apple
- 1 cup fresh or frozen organic berries
- 1 tbsp raw cacao powder
- 1-2 tbsp nuts or hemp hearts
- 1 tbsp plant based protien powder (optional)
- 2 tbsp organic nut butter (optional)
- Add all ingredients into your blender in the order listed and blend.
- Pour into a bowl, top with your favourite superfoods like cacao nibs, seeds, nuts and granola and enjoy!
